We have the best selection of herbs in the area and can’t wait to show them off to you!  Come pick up your favorites – whether you’re growing them indoors or out, we have everything you need (and we do mean EVERYTHING) to successfully grow herbs for cooking, for medicinal purposes & for decorating too. Here are some of our very favorites for your consideration:
Although it is considered a culinary herb because it makes such a tasty addition to so many dishes, BASIL has a number of medicinal* uses you may not be aware of!  It is used for stomach spasms, loss of appetite, intestinal gas, kidney conditions, fluid retention, head colds, warts, and is even used to treat snake and insect bites.
All parts of the CORIANDER plant are edible, but the dried seeds and fresh leaves are most commonly used in cooking, especially Mexican cooking!  Add a teaspoon to enchiladas or a pot of beans or any other number of favorite dishes.  Plus coriander seeds are said to reduce the blood glucose levels in diabetics*.  And since it has anti-inflammatory properties, it is helpful in the fight of diseases like arthritis too*!
If you love the distinctly flavorful leaves of FRENCH TARRAGON, it is more cost effective to grow your own instead of purchasing the pricier bunches from grocery stores.  And if its minty flavor isn’t enough to make you appreciate it, *French tarragon can also be used to stimulate the appetite, relieve flatulence and colic, cure rheumatism, and relieve toothache.
Some of our other favorites include rosemary, catnip, sage, mint, chamomile, dill, fennel, parsley and hyssop! With hundreds of plants and varieties to choose from, shopping in our Herb Department is always a pleasure.  And our staff Herb Gurus will help you find exactly what you’re looking for!
*Always contact your healthcare provider before using herbs for medicinal reasons.
