Vegetable gardeners know this month is the start of Second Season gardening; a final chance this season to plant and enjoy fresh veggies straight from the garden to your dinner table! There are lots of vegetables that are perfect for fall planting – knowing which ones you can successfully plant now is half the battle. The other half is timing – knowing just when to plant them so that they can be harvested in time for late fall and winter feasts! You’ve come to the right place to learn what, when and how to plant, thanks to the EJC experts!
Leafy greens like cabbage, kale, lettuce, spinach, & mustard greens are all great for second season planting! Other cold weather favorites are beets and collards, radishes, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, broccoli, peas and even certain varieties of carrots. We have super low prices on all of these plants and seeds, which can be planted either in the ground or in containers.
They should be planted any time during September and be sure to add some Fertilome Gardener’s Special granular fertilizer to the soil for super growing results! For more details, talk to any of our growing experts on your next visit. We love to answer your questions and guide you toward ultimate growing success!
