You can still plant cool-hardy veggies like spinach, lettuce, onions, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli, garlic, asparagus, potatoes, strawberries and lots, lots more.  And now that our frost-free date has passed, you can plant more tender veggies like tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, and melons and of course, TOMATOES too.
You can also add to your vegetable bar beans, corn, squash, eggplant, and Southern favorites like okra, southern peas, and sweet potatoes.  Our selection of young vegetable plants here at EJC is strong and healthy, and our prices are super inexpensive.

TIP FROM THE PROS

  • Work some calcium into the soil when planting tomato plants to reduce blossom end rot. Hydrated lime or Calcium Nitrate are great choices for this.
  • Keeping the soil around your tomatoes consistently moist helps them significantly.
  • If you like to keep it natural, we suggest using organic Foxfarm  fertilizer and soil amendments for all your vegetable plants.
  • Inspecting your plants very frequently is critical since the insecticides that are available now do not last long and need to be resprayed often.
  • When aphids and other insects are spotted, treat them with an inexpensive gentle insecticidal soap we have available here EJC.
